This is a loop ride as perfect as they come, for road cyclists in Northern California's Suisun Valley region. It's scenic, challenging and so enjoyable all at the same time. At only 13.5 miles in total, it can be done in about an hour while taking in the pastoral lush green hills, pastures and tree groves.
This is a 13.5 mile loop route in Fairfield, California. The route has a total ascent of 498 feet and has a maximum elevation of 369 feet.
Begin your ride at the corner of Oliver Road and Mankas Corner Road. Along Mankas Corner Road you'll pass the Napa Grass Farmer community farm and Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company. Veer right onto Clayton Road, then left onto Gordon Valley Road. Bike the rolling hills of Gordon Valley through lush tree coverage and past small hobby farms for just under 4 miles. Turn left at Wooden Valley Cross Road. You'll find yourself immersed in beautiful tree coverage with small private vineyards along side. After about 1.3 miles, veer left onto Wooden Valley Road. Enjoy the slight downhill stretch as the road becomes Suisun Valley Road. You'll pass by Vezer Family Vineyard and Winery to your right (stop in, or don't...but they do produce some great wines and are very nice folks!). You'll then pass Suisun Valley Elementary School just to your left where you can see a sprawl of baby goats, chickens, and flower/vegetable gardens all taken care of by the students.
Lastly, you'll turn left onto Mankas Corner Road and follow it back to your starting point. My hunch is you'll be feeling pretty serene with a great workout under your belt. I absolutely love this ride!
