Take a weekend at San Simeon to soak in beautiful coastal views, hike a 3.3 mile interpretive trail, and go surfing, fishing, or wildlife watching.
San Simeon has two campgrounds to choose from – San Simeon Creek Campground has 115 campsites for tent or RV camping. Sites have fire rings and picnic tables, and nearby there is firewood for sale.
Your other choice is the primitive Washburn Campground, located 1 mile inland. From this plateau, you will have views of the coast and the Santa Lucia mountains. Sites here also have fire rings and picnic tables.
Due to drought measures, showers and water faucets have been shut off, and flushing toilets replaced by porta potties. You should also bring your own water for consumption.
You can also visit the Pa-nu Cultural Preserve, the site of an archaeological find dating back 5,850 years. And be sure to visit the elephant seals!
