Enjoy scenic Grandview Beach along the cliffs, reefs, and mansions. It's a great way to start your Saturday or Sunday or even a date! One of the less-busy beaches in North County.
Grandview Beach is a great spot for surfing when conditions line up (see Surfline). it's also an ideal spot to kick back and relax (bring your whole fam, dogs too).
If you're looking for a little fitness, you can start at either Grandview Beach and head south along the beach to the San Elijo lagoon (only doable at very low tide), or you can start there and head north...either way you'll be amazed. The run is a relatively flat, normal beach run with a few exceptions being the reefs (at low tide), the cliffs, and the homes that line them.
Not as glitzy as La Jolla or as crowded as Pacific Beach, Encinitas is a more laid-back beach town that has its own character and space. Through the towns of Leucadia and Cardiff (located within Encinitas), you will be able to see some eclectic homes perched along the clifftop as you run past. At Swamis Beach you will be exposed to some reef to run through and in front of the San Elijo campgrounds, you will enjoy the flattest, hardest-packed sand to really increase your heart rate. This is a great run (or walk!) to do in the morning for the rising east sun or even better in the evening to watch the sunset as you wind down.
