About this place

Added by Robb Keele

Black Mountain Peak via Miner's Ridge Loop Trail is a 4.3-mile loop hike with an elevation gain of 950 feet. Enjoy amazing views of San Diego's foothills, with fun options for mountain biking, trail running, and hiking. This is a great hike for kids and a dog-friendly trail.

The Miner's Ridge Loop Trail is a relatively mild 4.3-mile loop that takes you to the 1554-foot summit of Black Mountain Peak.

Even from the parking lot, the views to the east are stunning. Get there early in the morning on a clear day, or arrive just before sunset to get the full experience.

The easy-to-follow trail wanders its way across the hillside, diving through thick forests of sage and manzanita trees. Once you reach the top, it's a short walk along a fire road until you reach the summit, where you will have clear views of Mt. Woodson and Iron Mountain to the east, and North Fortuna Peak and South Fortuna Peak to the West.

Don't mind the cell towers at the top. Let yourself enjoy the view and the towers will fade into the background.

This is a great hike that's fun for the whole family.

Great little loop hike. For longer hikes you can take spur trails up to the top of the Mtn where the towers are. Others ...
