The fact that you have slight variations in altitude makes this a peaceful walk, with time to contemplate all the beauty around us. Great views of the ocean, other islands (Pico and São Jorge) and the interior of the volcanic crater.
This hike is positioned right in the center of Faial Island in Azores (Portugal). The archipelago has a lot of certified trails and this is one of the most scenic and family friendly you can find. You will find some minor ascents but in general the topography is flat and easily walkable. It's not every day you have the chance to walk in a volcanic crater (Caldeira).
