Great hike for beginners and children. Enjoy hiking the trail lined with mountain laurel that passes by an old fire tower and pump house.
Their is a large gravel parking area about 12 miles north of Haneyville on route 44. Parking is on the east side of route 44.
The trailhead is on the opposite side of the road, follow the trails blue blazes right to hike the loop counter clockwise. The trail initially parallels route 44.
The trail will then pass by the Pump Station Fire Tower which was manned by Ruth Will for many years. The surrounding trees have obscured the view from the tower, but still worth a climb to the top.
The trail then descends and intersects with the Black Forest Trail at the remains of the pump house. The trails merge briefly and the Ruth Will Trail continues uphill to a vista overlooking the Baldwin Branch of Young Womans Creek. Continue to follow trail back to parking area.
This trail is also known as a ski trail during the winter months.
