Hike the "Matterhorn of the Alleghenies" and enjoy the panoramic view of Pine Creek and Blackwell below.
From the Blackwell parking access at the route 414 bridge that crosses Pine Creek, walk on 414 east towards Babb's Creek. Shortly after crossing the single lane bridge over Babb's Creek, you will turn right onto Big Run Road.
Follow Big Run Road for about 2 miles and when the road makes a sharp turn through a hollow, you will see the orange blazes of the Mid State Trail which you will exit the road to the left and onto the trail.
Follow the Mid State Trail to Gillespie Point Vista. Hang out and enjoy the view!
Continue to follow the trail as it descends from the point, steeply at times. The trail will bring you back to Big Run Road in which you will retrace your steps to the parking area.
