This overlook is a breathtaking view of the Lehigh Valley, only 3/4 of a mile off of the parking lot, and a great place to watch for hawks flying overhead.
The trail is VERY rocky and stepping up the rocks requires proper footwear. From the beginning of the trail, hike until you reach an opening filled with rocks and boulders. Stay to the left of this and you will see the unmarked trail continue. After climbing up this, there is an overlook to the North on your left, but the better views are less than 100 feet further on your right. You will come to a clearing and find overlooking views of the Lehigh Valley, widely breathtaking, as you can see a full panorama of the area. Follow the same path back down to the parking lot.
Driving Directions: Starting on Bake Oven Road in Germansville, PA, follow the road until it comes to a stop at a T. Make a left, turning you onto Mountain Rd, and then make your first right. This will put you on Ulrich Rd. As you're driving on this, you will see a bend in the road where the paved portion of the road curves right and gravel continues ahead of you. Follow the gravel, as this will keep you on Ulrich Rd. If you pass the gravel road and continue on paved road, you're now on Walter Road and should turn around and follow the gravel road. Once on the gravel, you will slowly begin to ascend the mountain, remain on this road through its turns and once you've reached the top and the road seems to even out, there is a large parking area on your right. Pull into the parking area and the trailhead starts in the far right corner from where you pulled in.
