About this place

Added by Mike Servedio

One of Pennsylvania's best weekend backpacking trips, the Old Loggers Path in the Loyalsock State Forest is a 27 mile hike through beautiful forests featuring sweeping views and scenic streams.

The Old Logger's Path follows abandoned logging roads in a loop through the Loyalsock State Forest. There are multiple places to join the trail, but most people start in the ghost town of Masten, PA.

Highlights include Rock Run, noted by many as the most beautiful steam in Pennsylvania. Vistas along Sullivan Mountain, at Sharp Top, and over the Rock Run Valley reveal the steep gorges of the Loyalsock. Pleasant Stream, Doe Run, Buck Run, and Long Run are all very scenic mountain streams in their own right.

The campsites along Rock Run are some of the most beautiful backcountry sites in the state of Pennsylvania. Campsites can be found at most stream crossings, with Pleasant Stream having multiple sites. Be cautious of rattlesnakes at most vistas on warm, sunny days.
