Take a Boat Ride to Bird Island

Bird Island is a very small rocky island covered in lush vegetation.  It's famous for being a tropical bird sanctuary.  Many native and migratory bird species nest here.  This is the only place in Panama where you can see the red-billed chough, famous for its long tail feathers. It is also one of only 3 places in the Panamanian Caribbean where the brown booby and red-billed tropic bird can be observed.

The island is located just off the north shore of the Bocas del Toro Providence.  From Bocas Town there are many different tour operator's that can arrange a boat tour to the island.  Visiting Bird Island can also be combined with several other tour opportunities in the area, such as visiting Starfish Beach or Playa Boca del Drago.
