About this place

Added by Jameson Jones

Lost Lake Butte Trail is an out-and-back trail to the top of the butte for great views of Mt. Hood. Duration is approximately 3-4 hours.

This is a great hike for those who are visiting Lost Lake. There's a steady 1200ft elevation climb all the way to the summit, so the hike will give you a good workout, but is worth it in the end.

To begin this hike, make your way to the Lost Lake Campground Amphitheater Stage (off of NF Dev RD 1340) where you will find the Lake Shore Express Trail (#658). As you make your way up the trail, you will shortly find yourself at a trail junction – continue straight as the trail becomes the Lost Lake Butte Trail (#616). You will then hit Jones Creek Road and this is where you will find a sign pointing to the continuation of the Lost Lake Butte Trail.

In 0.2 miles you will come to yet another trail junction with Old Skyline Trail (#655). Continue straight to stay on the Lost Lake Butte Trail. From there it's about 2 miles to the summit. Once you've had your fill of Mt. Hood, return to Lost Lake by going back the same way you came.

Lightly trafficked!
Not a lot of people on this trail. I can kinda see why. It’s not awful! And the view of Mount Hood is dope ...
