Crescent Beach Trail

Head off the 101 to Ecola State Park and drive to the large main car area. From here the trailhead is located just above the restroom facility and is well signed, you can't miss the huge placard. Starting with a few short incline stair sets, you will hit the main roadway; follow the sidewalk for a few hundred yards before plunging back into the forest at the trail-marker. Keep following along and pay attention to your footing as several places are heavily eroded and very slippery. It is also advised to wear old shoes that you don't mind getting muddy because the trail is very saturated in places! The path is very mellow until the final section where you will steeply decline down the switchbacks and land on the beach.

All throughout the journey there are designated lookouts to catch glimpses of the marvelous Oregon coastline. Be careful as you step out on these areas as erosion is a major issue in this area, also pay close attention to the park signs and caution tape; they are there for a reason!

Shed your shoes and explore the beach area in all directions. You will have views of the main Ecola Lookout Point with the shimmering green hillside blockading the incoming waves, the recognizable unique rock structures, a sea-level perspective of the alluring Pacific Ocean horizon, and the overall stunning scene of one of my favorite Pacific Northwest beaches. Schedule a few hours to spend down on the beach, especially if the sun is out!
