Fly Fishing the Metolius

If there were a river in heaven it would be the Metolius. This gem located near Sisters Oregon offers year-round fly-fishing (only) to anyone who wishes to do so. The area offers multiple types of accommodations from tent camping to staying in resort-like cabins on the river. The best time to go for the a scenic experience is in Spring/Early Summer when the flowers are in full bloom.

The first thing you should do is head to the Camp Sherman Store Fly Shop where you can gain insight from those working in the Fly Shop to see which flies are working and the best stretches of the river to fish. Rainbow trout, bull trout, brown trout, brook trout, kokanee, and mountain whitefish are all present throughout the Metolius.

After a day of fishing, head back to the Camp Sherman Store and grab some homemade burgers along with some refreshing brews. Three Creeks Brewing is also great place to go and is located in downtown Sisters 25 minutes from Camp Sherman.
