Paul Bunyan Statue

The Paul Bunyan Statue in Portland, Oregon, stands as a unique tribute to the state's centennial and the quirky roadside attractions of mid-20th century America. Erected in 1959 to commemorate Oregon's 100th anniversary of statehood, this 31-foot-tall statue was custom-built from concrete and metal, unlike the typical fiberglass "muffler men" of that era. The statue, located in the Kenton neighborhood, features a smiling, larger-than-life lumberjack holding a tall axe, reflecting both the region’s logging heritage and a playful nod to novelty culture.

Over the decades, the statue has been carefully maintained and refurbished, ensuring it remains a vibrant and enduring landmark. 

Visitors can find the statue near a local bank near the corner of North Interstate Avenue and North Denver Avenue.
