Camp at Mann Lake

Mann Lake can be found in the Steens Mountain Wilderness area. Camping is first come first serve but depending on the time of year it won't be crowded at all. I visited in the early fall and there was one other car. 

I decided to camp next to the lake (>200 ft. away of course), which holds water all year long. Waking up to views of the Steens Mountain Range and the glass like water on the lake. 

Temperatures do drop very cold at night even in late summer and early spring so be prepared. The is no gas station close, the closest one is about 40 miles away. 

Always bring the essentials to stay alive if your car breaks down. I did not have signal so it could be some time before a car drives by. 

There are bathrooms at the entrance to the lake. 

If you do need gas there is a great little station in Fields Oregon (40 miles) which has great breakfast as well. 

Not far away either is the Alvord Desert (15 miles). Which is another great area to explore, it does have a hot spring to refresh in.
