Waterfall Loop at Englewood MetroPark

This adventure begins at a parking lot within the Englewood East MetroPark, right at the trailhead for the white trail. Begin the hike into the woods, following the well-marked path through points 1 and 2. Continue straight on the white path until you hit point 7, where you will switch over to the green path and keep walking toward point 6. The first waterfall of the hike, Martindale Falls, is the most popular and usually has the most water coming down. You can climb up around it and even crouch in the rock behind the falls! 

When you are ready to continue the hike, climb the steps and walk to intersection 5. From here, you will continue to follow the green path and take a left to walk the boardwalk through the Pumpkin Ash and Swamp Forest.  Walk past points 24 and 23, and you'll soon reach the next waterfall, Patty Falls. You'll have to stay in the fenced area for this waterfall, but you can still get good views and pictures.

Return to the green trail and press on, walking past the road (look both ways!). The final waterfall on this hike is the small Oaks Falls. Depending on when you visit, this one may just be a small trickling stream falling over the rock ledge. When you are ready to complete the hike, cross the small wooden bridge and follow the green path through points 17, 18, 19, and 21. This will lead you right back to the parking lot you began at!

Overall, the loop is about 2.25 miles. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as well, my wife and I saw two owls when we hiked through here!
