The French Broad Overlook is one of several overlook spots along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's not known to be the most breathtakingly scenic spot of the batch, but it's still a nice viewpoint that will offer you sights of the French Broad River, one of the few north flowing rivers in the US.
You'll see a clear sign and a parking area at this location. If you're itching to do a bit more than snap a few photos at this overlook, you can certainly make more of the trip by parking your car and heading north on the parkway. With your vehicle parked, you'll have the opportunity to set out on foot or bike. Try out the nearby Shut In Trail, a moderate 15.7 mile point to point hike with year round access. You can also access this trail from multiple points along the parkway. Dogs are allowed too.
