Explore a pristine mountain stream, as it flows directly from the peaks of Grandfather mountain down to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Boone Fork Bridge and creek is situated at the base of Grandfather Mountain, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, milepost 299.9. Elevation 3905'.
The trailhead is at the left side of Boone Fork Creek parking area and the trail is a gentle meander through Rhododendrons and a hardwood forest.
As you head towards the creek, the Boone Fork trail will merge with the Tanawha Trail. Veer left at this trail junction and continue to Boone Fork Creek.
As you approach the bridge, you can begin to hear the creek. Head out on the bridge first for an unobstructed view up and down the creek. You can access the creek from either side of the bridge and this is a perfect creek to rock hop around on. For the adventurous, explore on up the creek for more pristine waters and larger boulders.
Boone Fork Creek is gorgeous at anytime of the day, but sunrise can be really special. Fog will sometimes settle in the creek as light rays pierce through the canopy. Truly a spectacular sight! You can also time your visit for mid June to see the Rhododendrons in full display or Mid October during the Autumn Peak.
