About this place

Added by Nathan Szwarc

Hike up a short but steep trail with views the whole way, and an outstanding view at the top overlooking the Blue Ridge Parkway and beyond.

The trail begins paved and quickly climbs up into a heavily forested area. Once at a 1/4 of a mile in, you will come to a nice overlook that will give you your first real good view of the surrounding mountains. The trail then continues on, though now unpaved, with great views off to your left as you ascend. At the top you have a few different areas to overlook the layers of mountains that surround you, the best being at the furthest point of the trail goes where there is a little rocky outcropping to sit and take in the views. To add to your sense of accomplishment you would also be taking in views on the 16th highest mountain east of the Mississippi at an elevation of 6,292 feet! To return simply follow the same path out and make sure to leave the trail as you found it!
