Hike to Fawn Lake

Fawn Lake sits on the backside of DuPont State Forest, about a 15 minute drive from the High Falls Parking/ Visitor Center as well as Hooker Falls parking lots. With easy access and easy terrain, this is a must see to add to the list.

While sometimes the main parking lots and trails of DuPont can be filled with visitors and guests, this lake may offer a more peaceful, less crowded hike. The hike is very easy going, being on a gravel road, that winds through the woods eventually leading you by the lake. There is a pavilion and small board-walk great for a picnic or swim. There is a loop trail that leads around the lake, as well as other longer trails that will connect you back into the main parts of DuPont. 

*There is a smaller, less maintained, inner circle trail that goes around the lake, offering small windows to view the lake from the backside. 

NOTES:

There is no other access that would allow kayaks or canoes to be brought directly up to the lake, but if you are up for the carry, it could easily be done due to the easier hiking terrain. 

There is a covered hut in the parking area with maps of the area and the different trails! If you have never been before, take a picture of it! It could be helpful if you want to see what other trails connect on down the trail.

The park opens around 5am and closes around 10pm. Unfortunately camping is not allowed (there may be a permit you could get to camp in DuPont - check the visitors center in the High Falls parking lot). 

 Google Maps will want to take you past the parking lot, telling you to make a left turn a little further down than the actual parking lot, connecting you to the Fawn Lake service road. This access is blocked off to the public. The parking lot that is open to the public is located  3.1 miles on your left, once you turn onto Reasonover Rd. There will be a sign on the right stating "Fawn Lake Access".
