Crabtree Falls

Starting from the old store parking area at MP 339.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, follow the trail through a meadow past the campground amphitheater. After crossing the paved road to the campground, the trail will come to a T-intersection. Take the trail to the right for the shortest way to the falls. 

The trail will descend steeply with a couple of switchbacks and some constructed stone steps. Soon you will begin to hear the roar of the falls. At the base of the falls there is a bridge crossing the river and some rocks to sit on. 

Once done exploring the falls, simply retrace your steps and follow the steep trail back up to the parking area. 

**This hike can also be done as a loop if you cross the bridge and continue on the trail. It is 1.6 miles from the falls back to the "T-intersection" described above. If you take the loop, then turn right back at the T to return to the old store parking lot.
