Here, you can run along the trails, bike in the Velodrome (former race track), launch your kayak or inner tube from one of the free launches, hammock from a tree, do yoga in the green space, or picnic with your friends. In addition, the park has sports facilities like roller hockey and even lawn bowling. Carrier Park is a space that truly welcomes a multitude of ways to get active.
The parks trails are paved and great for running. There is a roughly 2.4 mile double loop through French Broad River Park extending into a wide loop through Carrier Park. This run is flat making it an ideal place for speed training or a leisurely jog. While on this run, you'll experience scenic river views along the way. And if you want company, you can even take your dog along if leashed!
To get to the park from downtown (just a quick 3 miles), the W6 bus is the best public transportation option. Spend the day or just a couple of satisfying hours to get your outdoor fix.
