Lake Crabtree is a beautiful place and is conveniently located close to Raleigh and other surrounding communities in the Triangle. Lake Crabtree offers many opportunities for outdoor activities including; boating, fishing, mountain biking and hiking!
Lake Crabtree is a 215 acre park that sits right next to a 520 acre flood control lake, known as Lake Crabtree. The park is open year round and offers a plethora of different activities. Hiking trails are accessible to hikers and runners while bikes are also permitted on multi-use trails. The park offers a public boat launch that is open year round and paddle boats, SUP boards and canoes are available to rent.
With more than 16 miles of trails, mountain biking, hiking and walking are the more popular activities at Lake Crabtree. Mountain biking trails range in difficulty from beginner to intermediate and helmets are required if you are riding. In addition to trails, the park also features several skill areas. Constructed elements and jumps are present throughout the trails and includes a pump track. Lake Crabtree is by far the most popular place for beginning mountain bikers in the Triangle so be courteous to others you pass on the trail.
On warm days and weekends especially, expect the park to be pretty full with people enjoying the many things to do at Lake Crabtree. The park offers many places to picnic and a large field with a volleyball court, making it the perfect place for families and groups. There are a couple of flower gardens that can be explored and sunsets are absolutely gorgeous so be sure to bring your camera!
