Awesome place to get out of the car on a road trip. Suitable for everybody, great little walk along boardwalks with some incredible water surrounding.
The walk around Te Waikoropupu springs is a very easy, flat walk that anybody can do.
As you leave the carpark, you do a little bit of descent down towards the water. You walk along some board walks over a little stream that flows beneath your feet. After winding through some forest, the track comes out right next to the springs.
The springs are truly incredible. Even on a rainy, overcast day, it was still apparent just how incredibly blue this water was. DOC did some studies and the water is so clear, you can see 63 meters underwater. Just unheard of. THERE ARE SIGNS: DO NOT TOUCH THE WATER, WITH ANYTHING. Do not put a go pro in the water, do not fill up your water bottle. Do NOT touch it. Don't ruin this incredible water source for a picture.
After the original view of the springs you wander through the forest and ferns, passing over a few more bridges and boardwalks before you end up back at the carpark.
Overall a very easy hike, but very cool spot to check out.
