Paddle Peconic Bay

While there are many ways to access the Peconic Bay, I have found the best direction to explore is north west after launching and during the sunset. If you head to the public beach on Towd Point Rd. you can launch from there and make your way out toward Robins Island. Like most places the water is calmest while the sun is setting and gets to be so calm that is looks like a sheet of glass. The colors of the sunset, even when cloudy, are always amazing to see and once further out all you will hear is your board and paddle cutting through the water. Boats and jet skis will pass by producing wakes from time to time but later in the evening is by far the best time to be on the water. There will be some schools of jelly fish floating by but nothing to be worried about if you stay on your board. If you plan on paddling out far you might want to bring a headlight just in case it gets dark on you before you get back. This is a must do if you are out in the Southampton area this summer.
