About this place

Get to the summit of New Hampshires third tallest Mountain in 2.5 miles!

Mount Jefferson stands at 5712 feet, the third tallest mountain of the Presidential's in the White Mountain National Forest. The trail head begins at the Caps Ridge Trail on Jefferson Notch Rd. While 2.5 miles sounds easy, this hike is not for the once in while day hiker. Challenging rock scrambles and unpredictable weather keep you on your toes! The first half of the hike is a fairly straight forward forest covered hike. The second half is along a completely exposed trail to the summit. Once at the rocky moon like summit you be rewarded with amazing 360 views on NH and the ever popular Mount Washington very close by. If you're into peak bagging you hit up Mount Clay and Mount Adams. A great detailed explanation of the trial along with maps can be viewed at www.4000footers.com. Have fun and be safe out there!

If you're coming from away and looking for a great place to stay look into AMC Lodges or huts.
