A hot spring soak in the solitude of a ghost town and abandoned resort on the true loneliest highway in America.
Warm Springs, Nevada at the crossroads of Route 6 and 375 aka "The Extraterrestrial Highway" is a long-abandoned ghost town that was once a stopover for stagecoaches and travelers crossing the massive basin and range province. Two buildings and a hot-spring fed pool are all that remain.
The source of the water is far too hot for bathing but it flows downhill into a large, algae-free pool partially surrounded by a chainlink fence. The bath house remains useful for changing and there is plenty of parking along Highway 6, about 20 yards away.
To say that Warm Springs is isolate is a bit of an understatement. There is no cell service and the closest fuel station is 40 miles away to the west in Tonopah.
To get to Warm Springs from the west, take Highway 6 east out of Tonopah for 40 miles. It is on the left at the junction with State Highway 375.
To get there from the northeast, take Highway 6 120 miles east from Ely, Nevada.
To get there from the southeast, take State Highway 375 100 miles from Crystal Springs.
Do note that the pool is likely too hot in the summer.
