24 Perfect Hours in Denver

Denver is the shining jewel of the Rocky Mountains. The fastest growing city in the United States truly has it all: unparalleled access to the outdoors, intricate bike paths, and a never-ending plethora of delicious breweries, restaurants and coffee shops. 

After living here for 25 years, Dirt Road Travels asked me to compile a list of the absolute best that Denver has to offer. Here, from breakfast to sunset, is the perfect day in Denver. 

1. Breakfast - Onefold

The purest definition of a hidden gem. Tiny, intimate, and mind-bendingly delicious. Start your day with the Bacon Fried Rice with a Duckfat Poached Egg. 

2. Coffee at Denver Bike Cafe

A quintessential Colorado morning; a delicious craft coffee, served inside a bike shop. Get some zip in your legs and then cruise along the Cherry Creek Bike Path (as recommended by Gov. John Hickenlooper)! 

And don't worry if you're running a bit behind schedule and show up later in the day - they also sport a full draft lineup of Colorado's finest craft beers. 

3. Lunch at City, O City

After a nice cruise around the city you'll have worked up a healthy appetite to be sure. City, O City is my go-to spot for a delicious lunch in a great part of town. 

4. Beers at Bierstadt Lagerhaus

Flawlessly executed German beers, brewed by hand on an authentic, antique German brewhouse. 

Any trip to Colorado wouldn't be complete without a craft beer, and Bierstadt Lagerhaus is truly the crown jewel.

5. See a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater

While Red Rocks certainly isn't a HIDDEN gem, it's an absolute can't-miss. Perhaps one of the most iconic live music venues in the world, this natural amphitheater hosts world-class musicians all summer long. 

The park is also a fitness and nature hotspot, featuring miles of hiking trails, and weekly yoga on the Rocks. 

6. Explore Mt. Evans

Hike from the trailhead below if you want to bag one of the 56 famous "14ers" in Colorado. At 14,265 feet above sea-level this hike isn't for the flat landers. If you don't have enough time to acclimate properly, it also boasts the highest paved road in North America so you can still take in those summit views without risking your health!
