This snowshoe adventure winds around the shores of Holland Lake, through Flathead National Forest land, and up to the beautiful Holland Falls. This adventure is not strenuous, and offers tremendous views at every moment.
Drive on 83 through the swan until you reach the turnoff for Holland Lake. The lake, campground, ranger station, and trails are all very well marked throughout this adventure. 4WD is suggested for getting to the parking lot for Holland Lake, as some of the roads may not be plowed, and there may be a lot of snow accumulation.
There is a sign which identifies the different trails that hikers may take- trail #42 leads to a lookout over Holland Lake as well as leading to a great spot to enjoy the falls. This particular trail is 3 miles round trip.
Wind through the forest as the trail leads on the Northern shore of the lake up to the falls. Remember to stay safe and not venture on top of a snow cornice. Follow the same trail that you had originally taken for the return journey.
