The trail begins near at the Lake McDonald Trailhead near the Fish Creek Campground and follows a gently rolling path through forest regrowth from past wildfires, giving you open views of the lake and surrounding mountains. To hike the Rocky Point Trail during the busy season (late May through mid-September), you’ll need:
A Glacier National Park entrance pass (daily, weekly, or Interagency Annual Pass)
A timed entry reservation for the Lake McDonald Corridor if you plan to enter between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.

No swimming is officially designated, but you can access the shoreline for wading or relaxing by the lake (cold water year-round)
Bring bear spray, as this is active bear country
