I did this trip during the end of autumn, and was pretty much the only person on the entire lake. With it being so serene and so quiet, I had the perfect nature getaway. I made sure to watch an epic sunrise on Two Medicine Lake, then spend the day taking my time to the upper lake and back, with a few small side trips along the way.
Once you have reached Two Medicine Lake by car, find the Upper Two Medicine Lake Trail by the campground on the north shore. From this starting point, it is 5 miles to Upper Two Medicine Lake. This trail can be done by beginner hikers if the conditions are right because there is barely any elevation gain. It is a great sightseeing trail, as I saw plenty of Moose and Elk, as well as gigantic peaks surrounding you in every direction. The trail is fairly straightforward and easy to follow.
Once at the Upper Lake, enjoy a peaceful break and the high alpine air with a view of the Continental Divide. You can even camp at this lake if you have a permit and reserve it beforehand. On your way back, If you are up for a little bit longer of a hike, you can take the East side of Two Medicine Lake hike back to the North shore campground.
