About this place

Added by Gavin Pirrie

This point to point hike is an excellent day trip that features new terrain the entire way with constant views of Glacier National Park.

This trail is a point to point, so two cars are necessary. The ending point is where Camas Rd intersects the North Fork Road at the Blankenship Bridge. The starting point for the hike is at Demer's Pit. Driving 22 miles from Columbia Falls, MT, make your way to the parking spot, Demer's Pit. From the pit, the trail begins in the west corner.

From the trailhead, the trail careens up straight to Demer's Ridge. The trail to the ridge is riddled with trees that have fallen down from the Moose fire in 2001. These trees are a nuisance to overcome, but are not impossible. Once the ridge is reached, follow the ridge south to Glacier View Mountain. The route is relatively easy to follow. Expect snow on the top of the ridge from late fall to early spring. Once Glacier View Mountain is reached, the descent is started. The descent ends at the Blankenship Bridge.
