About this place

Added by Josh & Michele

The Longleaf Trace is South Mississippi's premier running, biking, hiking, equestrian trail, extending from Hattiesburg (elevation 220') through Sumrall (290'), Bassfield (460'), and Carson (520') to Prentiss (336').

The Longleaf Trace is an old railroad line that has been paved over to convert it into a running, biking, hiking, equestrian trail. Doing the entire Longleaf Trace at once is an extremely strenuous task - Took me 7.5 hours! Luckily, there are plenty of waypoints along the Trace. This allows you to complete the trail in sections or to start the trail at a station/depot of your choosing. The trail has plenty of rest areas with benches and sometimes rain awnings, and each station/depot on the map has bathrooms, water fountains, and drink vending machines.

Follow this link (http://www.longleaftrace.org) to view the map and other useful information about the Trace.
