Large lake with many smaller islands - perfect for paddling!
Lake Kabetogama is located in Voyageurs National Park and is one of the main attractions for the park. We saw so many vehicles with boat trailers in every parking lot. There are houseboat campsites, lots of fishing, tour boats, rental canoes and kayaks. Since we don't own our own boats, we rented canoes from Arrowhead Lodge Resort which was just down the hill from the Wooden Frog Campground. We were able to put in the water right from the lodge, but I believe you can put in from any of the Visitor Centers as well.
We went early in the morning as the wind was going to pick up later, but it was still a bit of a difficult paddle. We paddled out to some of the closer, small islands and explored some of the boat-in campsites. These sites can be reserved and would be a fantastic way to enjoy the area!
If you are truly feeling ambitious, you can paddle over to the Kabetogama Peninsula where there are fabulous hiking trails!
