About this place

Added by Shalee Blackmer

Miners Falls is an approximately 1.2-mile roundtrip trail to a picturesque waterfall in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

A simple hike from the trailhead will take you through the woods and to the viewing deck of Miners Falls. There are well marked signs to the trailhead from the main road, which is extremely helpful with the lack of cell phone service in the area.

The hike is 1.2 miles round trip and requires no hard terrain challenges to the viewing deck. However, what makes these falls unique is following a trail which branches off from the second viewing platform down to the base of the falls. The hill is steep and wet, so shoes with decent grip may be needed. The rocks and swimming hole at the bottom of the falls are perfect for a nice dip on a hot day.

Backwoods camping is offered around the area, with a permit needing to be obtained from the visitors building in Munising.

There is a small cave that goes back behind the falls that can be accessed by climbing and maneuvering over rock piles. Overall, don’t be afraid to get wet on this hike! The platforms have beautiful views, but a trek to the bottom will make the hike more than worth it.

Easy hike, beautiful forest views, stunning waterfall
This is a very easy hike that's located down a gravel road in Pictured Rocks NL. It takes about 30-45 minutes total to walk ...

Quick hike to some beautiful falls! Happy we did this and it wasn't super crowded when we were there in the early fall!

Awesome Winter Adventure
The waterfall was wonderful in the winter as well. Very very icy, but still a cool view. Maybe would recommend spikes for the stairs.
