Travel Tips for Visiting Cenote Agua Dulce

• Bring water shoes to comfortably navigate stone paths and platforms.

• Use reef-safe sunscreen—but only after swimming (if at all)—as standard sunscreen is prohibited to protect the water quality.

• Don’t forget your snorkel gear or underwater camera—the visibility is excellent for capturing this incredible natural wonder.

Additional Info

The main entrance to Cenota Augua Dulce follows a wide walkway and stairs leading to a wide platform with benches. The other is harder to find, but it descends a narrow spiral staircase that leads to a small platform near the center of the cenote. A couple small openings in the ceiling allow sunlight to illuminate the water and limestone walls. A landscaped waterfall adds another surreal element to the experience.

Aqua Dulce seems to get fewer visitors than nearby Cenote Palomitas, likely because it is a slightly longer walk to reach. And while the water is cool, it is comfortable given the humid jungle air.

Location: Approximately 35–40 minutes northeast of Valladolid by car, often visited alongside nearby Cenote Palomitas.
