Playa Balandra is a tranquil bay with intensely turquoise water with soft sand, all embraced by stark, copper-hued mountains. You can enjoy a relaxing afternoon here surrounded by wildlife.
Playa Balandra is one of the best beaches in Mexico. It is perfect for chilling on the white, soft sand or swimming in the clear water. There are many sections of beach within the bay, so the beach nearest to the parking lot is usually the most crowded and you will need to take a boat across the bay to get to more secluded sections of coast without people. Nevertheless, it is a peaceful area without any developed buildings around, so the wildlife is abundant and the ambiance is peaceful. Bird watching is particularly great. Stand-up paddle-boarding is a nice activity in the calm waters of the bay, as is kayaking. Or hike up to a point on the hills to get a spectacular view of the whole area. Only one thing to be cautious about: shuffle your feel when walking in the water so as not to step on a stingray!
