A 360 view of the Baja; from the desert landscape to the Sea of Cortez. This easy hike is a quick drive from the town of Los Barriles. If you come at the right time of the year you can see whales spouting out in the distance.
This hike is relatively easy with amazing views at the top and during the trail. There is little elevation gain in the beginning, and the gain is gradual as you make it to the top of the mountain. But if you do get tired there are many rocks to take a quick break on.
How to get there:
I wish I could place an exact location but I did not record an address when I did this hike. Starting from Los Barriles you will drive towards Rancho Leonero. However there are many side roads, twists, and turns so your best bet is stopping at Rancho Leonero where the gift shop worker would be more than happy to help you with directions. Also in Los Barriles, there is a real estate office that serves as a mini chamber as commerce called "homes and lands of Baja" on the street the 20th of February, that would be able to give directions.
Once you arrive at the hike, park on the west side of the road where there is a little parking area. From there, cross the road and walk around the south side of the mountain until the trail winds up and around north. The trail isn't very obvious but you can make it out enough to know which way you should be going.
After the hike stop back by Rancho Leonero to get drinks and food with a great view and oceanside sitting.
