Hiking the Chesapeake Ohio Towpath along the canal is a great way to get some fresh air and feast your eyes on Maryland's natural scenery.
Park in the lot on Whites Ferry road and hop on the Chesapeake Ohio towpath. This is an out-and-back so you can make it as short as you want or up to 10 miles. Great for familes and dog friendly!

Nice, relaxing path
C&O path is nice, usually well kept and clean. It's good for bringing the dogs along (leashed) and the rest of the family.
