The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is a prime location to get away for a day. The Refuge includes more than 28,000 acres of marsh, forrest, and croplands, and is teeming with wildlife. The park offers a visitors center with a large parking lot, perfect starting location for biking the loops.
The victors center can provide maps and instruction on the roads and the bike trails. They offer a 4-mile and a 7-mile loop trail down Wildlife Dr. these trails cost only $1 per bike. They also offer 20-mile and 27-mile bike routes down public roads.
The Wildlife Refuge is such a wonderful location, is continues to be the location for the biking portion of the annual Maryland Ironman and Eagleman Triathlons due to its flat terrain.
