Otter Point

If you only have an hour or so left to your day in Acadia, Otter Point offers some amazing views of the coastline, without being on a crowded beach. An easy mellow trail just inland from the shore allows you easy access to iconic places such as Otter Cliffs, Thunder Hole, and Monument Cove. Hike to these spots, or explore along the rocks and view tidal pools, smashing waves, and 180 degrees of the Atlantic Ocean, a classic scene of Acadia National Park.

After crossing Mt. Desert Narrows, stay left and continue on Bar Harbor Rd. Stay on this road for about 10 miles. At the end of this road, continue straight onto Kebo Street, and after a mile you will be able to turn onto the Park Loop Rd. Once on, follow the signs that direction you to Otter Point.

The parking spot to Otter Point is on the right. Once parked, walk to the end of the parking lot, and cross the road. There will be a trail sign. You can either follow this trail all the way to Sand Beach, passing Otter Cliff, Thunder Hole, and Monument Cove, or you can find a nice spot off the trail to enjoy the view. This is a great option to enjoy the sunset or sunrise, or if you like being on the shore, but don't like the crowds of Sand Beach.
