Enjoy a beautiful and quiet campground to relax at after a long day of hiking and adventure in Acadia National Park.
Being in the center of Mt. Desert Island, you are just a quick drive to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
This campground offers waterfront and off-waterfront sites. The waterfront is right along Somes Sound and offers amazing views at anytime of the day. We went during off season (no reservations taken during off season) and the campgrounds were still full but we were lucky enough to get a perfect waterfront campsite (they only allow 2 people per waterfront site so we also had to claim an off-waterfront site: but we spent most of our time at the waterfront site, of course). The rates change during off and on season, also depending on which type of site. All detailed information can be found at their website.
Each site has a firepit and picnic table along with a water spigot either right next to or in close proximity to the site; so cooking and cleaning is easy. There are clean and well kept bathrooms spread out along the campground that provide showers (4 quarters for HOT water though). A cute "Gathering Place" has fresh coffee till 9:30AM every morning and offers free Wi-Fi throughout the day. Each site has an abundance of trees to hang up your hammocks on and take a nap. The campgroud also offers rentals for kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards.
Overall, we had an amazing experience at this campsite! The spot was beautiful and the location was close enough to everything we wanted to explore. Would definitely recommend camping here.
