About this place

Added by Cam Adams

Boney Peak is a challenging 12-mile roundtrip hike with scenic beach views, high cliffs, and lookout points.

The hike begins at the parking lot for Rancho Sierra Vista in Newbury Park, CA just outside LA. Pull into the parking lot and walk on the dirt road until you see the trail for Boney Peak. It is easy to find because the peak can be seen from the beginning of the trail. The trail is generally an incline the entire way to the top. The last 3 miles of the ascent is through thick brush, so be prepared.

Once at the top, you can explore through caves and even climb up some small cliffs. There are even a few boulders for any climbers interested in some bouldering. Be warned however, if you head up on a windy day the peak can have gusts over 45mph. The peak offers views of nearby beaches: Oxnard to the north and Malibu to the southwest. Due to its location, the hike can be done year round, making it easily accessible for avid hikers.
