Lewis Falls

Located deep in the Angeles National Forest above Azusa, this short but at times challenging hike rewards you with a beautiful fifty-foot waterfall. The base of the waterfall is only a foot at its deepest, so I wouldn't rush to bring a bathing suit with you. Protected by the heavy forestry around the canyon, the water stays ice cold which depending on the day can be refreshing.

Starting at an unmarked trailhead, this hike grants it's visitors the beauty of a variety of environments from ivy covered boulders to ruins of cabins that did not make it through a fire that tore through the area in 2002.

This 1-mile trail begins on a fairly well beaten path off the CA 39 highway leads you past several Forest Service cabins until you reach a brown wooden fence around the 0.6 mile mark which will lead you to a steep decline to the creek bed. Don't be afraid of getting wet as you hop from boulder to boulder and balance on logs as you get closer to reaching the falls.
