This adventure provides an alternative route to the popular Parker Mesa Overlook. Lots of side trails along the main hike that give sweeping views of the valley prior to great viewpoint at Parker Mesa.
This is a 6.8 mile round-trip hike that starts at Trippet Ranch in Topanga Canyon. Even though the range in elevation is 400 feet from peak to trough, the up and down trail totals to approximately 1800 feet elevation gain making this a beginner to intermediate adventure.
The trail itself is pretty wide and begins at Trippet Ranch. You will want to take the trail up to East Topanga Fire Rd. from the parking lot (pay-to-park, but street parking is also available outside of the gated entrance). Head south on East Topanga Fire Rd. (Going north will take you on the Eagle Rock hike). When you reach the fork for Paseo Miramar Trail, turn right and continue south on the trail towards the end to enjoy the views at Parker Mesa Overlook.
If you have a hiking GPS or enjoy searching for geocaches, this is a great trail for that, one of which is a mini ammo box that was really fun to find and also presented some great views overlooking the valley.
Another option for the hike is via the Paseo Miramar Trail.
