About this place

Added by Sassy Resuello

Offers amazing views of Big Bear Lake and it is only about a mile to get to the peak. Great for a short day hike with the whole family.

Follow the directions to the trail head, and park on the side of the road. You will see a sign that says Castle Rock Trail, and the path is directly behind that sign.

The hike up to the peak is steep, sandy, and very rocky, so shoes with good traction is recommended. There are also lots of oak and pine trees in this trail, which offered ample shade.

Just keep following the trail until you reach the top. There you will find lots of granite boulders. You can roam around and explore, just be careful when climbing on top of the rocks, some of them may be icy.

Enjoy the view at the top, overlooking Big Bear Lake. It's such a beautiful sight to see, especially during spring when the lake is blue and the trees surrounding it are all green.

Go back the same way you came in.

NOTE: Hiking here in the winter can be dangerous because of the icy trail.

Awesome Casual Hike
Great hike! Steep at parts, semi-crowded (dog city!) when I went in early December. View of the lake up top.
