Camp in the Greenwater Valley in Death Valley NP

Greenwater Valley in the southeast corner of Death Valley National Park is a fantastic representation of the many features that the Park has to offer but without the crowds (and traffic) found in the primary campgrounds like those around Stovepipe Wells and Texas Spring. In addition to being quite large and with almost endless campsites, it is still only a 30 minute drive to Badwater and many of the most popular features of the park, including being the back entrance (Southern) to Dante's Peak.

The primary road through Greenwater Valley is Furnace Creek Road, a dirt,  25 mile long 2WD accessible road running in a roughly north to south. To get there from the north, take Dante's View / Furnace Creek Road from 190 south and then stay left after about 7 miles onto Furnace Creek Road. 

From the South you'll turn onto Furnace Creek Road from Jubilee Pass Road / 178, either a left if you're coming from the West from Badwater, or a right if you're coming from Shoshone / 127 to the east.

If you're coming from the South there are numerous campsites that begin roughly 6 miles along the road, with several unmaintained dirt roads and trails forking off in all directions. 

There are no services or official campsites and, like everywhere in Death Valley, the Summers are notoriously hot and shade is difficult to impossible to come by. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a spare tank of gas wouldn't hurt. In the winter and spring, flash floods are a possibility so be careful when the road crosses washes and drainage area.
