About this place

Added by Daniel Brittain

Escape for a weekend camp close to Ventura, California. This is an easy access with free spots available equals relaxation.

Close to Ventura and Ojai, California, this spot is an easy weekend getaway from the hectic coast of Ventura. Follow Highway 33 east toward Ojai. This road will lead into the Los Padres National Forest and become very curved and sleep as it gets closer to Rose Valley. The sign for the Park with be on the righthand side. Follow this until you come to the camping area on the right. There are a handful of pull-up spots in the area, which is usually crowded and full in the summer time.

If you want to escape the full sites and want to camp for free, follow the road another mile until to reach a parking lot. Park here, and find the trail at the back left of the parking lot. Hike down to the shoreside site, free of people and completely quiet. You can set up your tent right on the water and have a campfire in the sand to kick back and relax.
