The Best Camping and Backpacking in Marin County, CA

There aren't many places that compare to Marin.

For our team here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we always feel super lucky to have Marin County as our playground. Not only is it easy striking distance for day trips or dawn patrol trail runs, it also has an astounding variety of beautiful places to camp for the night. You'd be pleasantly surprised at how far away your campsite feels even though you may still be able to see the San Francisco skyline or the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

If you're heading into Marin from San Francisco and need to pick up some last minute gear, you've got Marin Outdoor Trading Co. in San Rafael that offers great deals on past-season products and pre-owned gear. There's also an REI in Corte Madera which will have just about anything you might need for a camping adventure in Marin. And after your camping adventure, explore Marin's many options for a delicious meal.

Whether you hike to the coast for some beach camping, sleep above the clouds on Mt. Tam, or camp out in the middle of the Bay at Angel Island, a night under the stars in Marin County will always be a memorable one.
