Hike to Hollow Falls

The first step of this fun little hike is to park at the handy parking lot located at 2488 Cherokee Rd., Oroville, CA up on Table Mountain.

Many people park here for the hike to the more well-known Phantom Falls, which is a much longer hike than the one to Hollow Falls. From the lot, look for an easy-to-spot trail beginning near a huge tree right outside the parking area (the tree is easy to spot as it is the only one in the area).  Dogs are ok on this hike, but please keep them leashed to avoid them running after livestock/hikers.

After that, it is a simple matter of following this trail for about a half-mile through cow pastures filled with thousands of wild flowers. You'll likely see a few big bovines roaming around, but they are used to people being in their area and largely avoid the trail.

The trail will take you directly to the top of the falls. If you would like to get to the base of the falls, just look to the left along the cliff edge to find a small trail that zig-zags its way down to the bottom.

The area in the ravine below the falls is also beautiful and lush during the spring/summer months after the seasonal rain when the falls are at their peak. There are tons of great trees there to string up a hammock between and enjoy the sun with the sound of the falls in the background.
